Moon Sweepers Splitter

The Splitter ($5) divides one belt into two branches and sends capsules down them in turn by itself. There is no switch to set its direction.

The Splitter is the piece you add when one machine cannot take everything a belt brings, or when a Stone press needs plain dust while the rest becomes sand. It sits on an existing belt and sends capsules to its two outputs one after the other, so each branch gets about half. It needs no power, and the pair of a Splitter and a Merger costs $10.

One branch goes into a Pressure chamber

The other branch can carry plain dust to a Stone press

Where to put a Splitter

  1. Place it on the incoming dust belt before the machines, not after them.
  2. Run one branch into each machine input, for example two Pressure chambers, or one chamber and the dust input of a Stone press.
  3. Check the direction of each branch before you build the next long belt piece.
  4. If it will not snap close to a machine, move it further along the belt where there is more space.

Since 1.0.3 a Splitter snaps straight onto a Merger port to port, which keeps tight factory floors short.

How to change splitter direction

You cannot. The Splitter has no switch and always alternates between its outputs. To send everything one way for a while, remove the belt on the other output and put it back later. In co-op, splitters placed by crewmates did nothing before 1.0.3; on 1.0.3 or later they work no matter who builds them.
