Garage — cleaning vehicle

Moon Sweepers Lunar Sweeper

The Lunar sweeper is the third cleaning vehicle: you drive it from an enclosed cab, and three brushes sweep a 2.8 m strip into a 1,200 kg hopper. It costs $2,500 in the Garage, and each player buys their own.

The Lunar sweeper is where the vehicles start carrying real loads. Next to the $300 Push sweeper it cleans a strip about twice as wide and holds twelve times as much per trip. It is also the first vehicle with an enclosed cab; one player found it easier to steer than the smaller sweepers, though that is a feel for handling rather than a stat.

Is the Lunar sweeper worth $2,500?

Save for it once driving is how you spend most of your cleaning time and broad, untouched ground is what you are clearing. If you still work mostly around nearly finished hexes near the station, the extra width and hopper go largely unused. It sits between the $1,000 Ride-on sweeper and the $6,000 Mega vacuum rover, so it is also the vehicle to drive while you save for the rover.

Emptying a 1,200 kg hopper

A bigger hopper only moves the bottleneck if nothing can take the load. Park on the Garage collector pad to empty it into the silo, and make sure the silo's belt output runs before you come back full. Hopper upgrades raise the 1,200 kg further: a parked one seen in gameplay footage held 1,560 kg. The vehicle and its upgrades belong to the player who bought them.
